Jealous ex-husband fined $500 after brawling with man for walking with his wife

By BBN Staff: A jealous ex-hubby, Austin Ashton Myers, 29, was charged with common assault and fined $500 plus the cost of court on Monday in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court after starting a brawl with a man who was walking with his estranged wife.

Myers, a tour guide of Mahogany Heights, appeared unrepresented in court before Magistrate Khiana Gordon and plead guilty to common assault.

His ex-wife, Allyah Chambers, who says they have been separated now for two years reported to police that on Sunday, January 2, she was walking with her son and niece and along with another man, whom she did not know, when Myers showed up and said “I nuh want nobody di walk with my wife,” before starting a fight with the unnamed man. During the altercation, Chambers tried to intervene but in the commotion, Myers also hit her, though he claims he only hit her in the head, while she alleged he slapped her twice in the face.

Myers was fined $500 plus a $5 cost of court which he must pay by April 2022 or 6 months in prison in default of payment. The man with whom Myers fought did not press charges.
