Netherlands Court sentences reggae artist Jah Cure to six years in prison for stabbing promoter

Posted: Tuesday, March 22, 2022. 1:56 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: “Behind these prison walls,” are no longer just song lyrics for 43-year-old reggae artist Siccature Alcock known by his stage name “Jah Cure,” after a Netherlands court sentenced him to six years in prison for attempted manslaughter.

Loop News reports that Jah Cure was handed his sentence today, following his conviction on March 8. After considering the evidence which includes witness statements, CCTV footage, and alleged voice messages Jah Cure had sent to the victim show promoter Nicardo Blake, the court ruled that his plea of “self-defense” did not apply in his case.

The court’s six-year sentence goes against a request from the prosecution to give Alcock eight years, for the stabbing incident that occurred in Amsterdam in October 2021.

Jah cure’s lawyer has two weeks to appeal the decision and has reportedly indicated that he will do so. The artist has also previously served time in prison for unrelated offenses.
