Posted: Friday, April 8, 2022. 7:36 am CST.

By BBN Staff: There have been several truck robberies reported this week, with the latest being a pair of Belize Telemedia Limited technicians in Belize City.

The victims reported to police that around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, they were working on a lamp post located at the corner of Consuelo Street and Peter Seco Street when two men both armed with guns rode up to them on separate bicycles.

One of the men fired a shot at the technician at the vehicle, causing him to fall to the ground. The robber then searched the technician and took from him two cell phones, one his personal property and the other the property of BTL.

The other robber pointed his weapon at the technician working on a ladder which was about 25 feet high and told him to drop his belongings. The technician then dropped a gold chain with a medallion.

In total, the robbers stole $1,650 in valuables before making their escape.

Police are investigating.

There were two other truck robberies reported in Belize City this week and another reported in St. Matthew’s Village, in the Cayo District.
