By Benjamin Flowers: There were several motorcycle accidents this weekend that have left three people dead and two critically injured.

On Saturday night, 17-year-old Gales Point Manatee resident Jashua Samuels lost control of his motorcycle while riding in the cemetery area of the village and crashed into a lamppost. Samuels sustained severe body injuries and died while receiving medical treatment.

On Sunday morning a motorcycle exploded between miles 41 and 42 on the George Price Highway. The passenger, 41-year-old Kadeem Banks died instantly. The driver, 48-year-old Edison “Vintage” Usher, died while receiving medical treatment at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.

And on Sunday night there was also a traffic accident on the Cristo Rey-San Antonio Road in the Cayo District. The victims, a man, and a woman received serious injuries and were admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Breaking Belize News (BBN) joins authorities in pleading with drivers, particularly those riding motorcycles, to drive with extreme caution, and practice defensive driving on the nation’s highways.
