By BBN Staff: Tonight, a Honduran national caught impersonating his brother by using his name has begun a six-month sentence at the Belize Central Prison.
Twenty-eight-year- old Makis Ariel Molina appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with failure to produce a visitor’s permit on demand.
He was fined the minimum for the offense, $3,000, but was unable to pay and was given prison time in default.
Yesterday, immigration officials intercepted him at which time he gave his brother’s name, Wilson Eduardo Beberán Mejia. But further investigation led to his true identity and the charge.
