By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Government of Belize will seek to push through two loan motions totalling $31.2 for COVID-19 relief, and for the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Project along with other motions and bills at the Special Sitting of the House of Representatives on Friday, May 13.

The government normally calls for a Special Sitting when it intends to pass special legislation or motions in one sitting and that’s precisely what the Government intends to do on Friday.

Under Public Business, the Prime Minister will introduce a loan motion for $6.2 million for COVID-19 relief to be financed through a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The Government will seek to have this motion taken through all its stages on Friday.

The Government will also seek to take another loan motion for $25 million through all its stages. This motion is for the Climate Resilient and Sustainable Project to be financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development as well.

The Friday Special Sitting of the House of Representatives starts at 10:00 am at the National Assembly Chamber at Independence Hill in capital Belmopan.
