Salvadoran gang member detained near Belize-Guatemala border   

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Guatemalan authorities (Policia Nacional Civil) posted on their social media page that in joint efforts with Belizean authorities, they detained Salvadoran gang member, Pedro Javier Sibrian Sanchez,22.   

Sanchez was reportedly found at the Western border near Peten, Guatemala, and is wanted in El Salvador for possession of firearms.  

He was taken to the Guatemalan Migration Institute located in Atescatempa, Jutiapa.  

El Salvador has since extended its state of emergency amid a gang crackdown. Many gang members sought to escape the country and flee to neighboring countries.  

Salvadoran authorities confirmed via their Twitter page that more than 30,000 arrests have been made during the crackdown on gangs.
