National Hurricane Center: Heavy rainfall across Yucatan Peninsula and Belize 

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is closely monitoring a broad area of low pressure over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and Yucatan Peninsula. 

According to the NHC, environmental conditions appear conducive to gradual development, and this system is likely to become a tropical depression while it moves northeastward over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and the southeastern Gulf of Mexico during the next couple of days. 

Heavy rainfall is forecasted across portions of southeastern Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula, and Belize during the next day.

There is a 70% chance of formation over the next 48 hours.
