Belize Weather: Skies clearing but still a chance of rain

Moist and unstable conditions persist over the area. The National Meteorological Service’s 24-hour forecast calls for sunny skies with cloudy spells today and mostly cloudy tonight. A few showers, periods of rain, and thunderstorms will develop mainly over inland areas this afternoon, and across the country tonight before becoming concentrated offshore by tomorrow morning.

High temperatures along the coast peak at 88 degrees Fahrenheit, in inland areas at 94 degrees Fahrenheit and in the hills at 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Tonight’s low temperatures are 75 degrees along the coast; 73 degrees inland and 66 degrees in the hills.

Winds are westerly at five to 15 knots. The sea will be moderate to rough with waves of four to seven feet. A flood watch remains in effect for the likelihood of localized flooding in low-lying and flood prone areas. A small craft caution is in effect for gusty winds and locally rough seas near heavy showers or thunderstorms.

Tides will be high at 11:05 this morning and low at 6:51 this evening. The sun sets at 6:24 this evening and rises at 5:17 Friday morning.

The outlook for Friday and Friday night is for isolated showers or thunderstorms, except for a few more developing over inland areas during the afternoon hours.
