Manager of Riverside Tavern fined over $9,000 for undersized conch

By BBN Staff: Forty-two-year-old Isai Puc, manager of the popular Belize City restaurant Riverside Tavern, was fined over $9,000 on Friday, for illegal possession of undersized conchs.

The allegation against him is that officers of the Fisheries Department found 175 pieces of conch at the restaurant that failed to meet the minimum three-ounce requirement.

When Puc appeared in court, he wasted no time in pleading guilty to the offense.

He was fined $1,000 +$5.00 cost of court fine for the offense which he must pay by September 30, 2022, and was also fined $50 for each piece of undersized conch, which added up to $8,750.00, for a total fine of $9,755.

The team of fisheries officers conducted the search of the restaurant’s kitchen on Tuesday, June 7.
