Belize and Guyana sign memorandum of understanding to strengthen ties

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On Thursday, Belize and Guyana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to deepen cooperation between the 2 nations.

Prime Minister John Briceño, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eamon Courtenay, Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rosanna Briceño were joined by the Honorary Consul of Belize in Guyana, Gale Miller-Garnett on their official visit to Guyana on July 5 to 8.

The MOU stated that Guyana and Belize will cooperate in the areas of agriculture, food security, trade, investment, energy, climate change, tourism, and technology, Newsroom Guyana reports.

This agreement is expected to benefit the Caribbean Community, especially in agriculture.

During the official visit, PM Briceno and his delegation also met with the Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, Oneidge Walrond, and other ministers of Guyana’s Cabinet.
