By BBN Staff: A 57-year-old man living in the Raymond Parks Shelter on Cemetery Road was charged and fined for public drinking and boisterous behavior.

Police approached Ernesto Aben Bailey on Cemetery Road in front of the Salvation Army church, where he was found drinking white rum. Police say that he was cursing out passersby and making noise in the area; however, Bailey contends he never did anything like that.

In court he told the Maagistrate he was calm and the police approached him and tried to take him away. He stressed that all he did in response was shake off the officer’s hand as they tried to take him, though he ultimately pleaded guilty to both charges.

He was fined $75.00 plus a $5.00 cost of court for his boisterous behavior which he has until September 30, 2022, to pay or will spend three weeks in jail for defaulting.

He was additionally charged with $25.00 plus a $5.00 cost of court for public drinking, which he will spend a week in prison for default if he does not pay.

Bailey is unemployed.
