Posted: Monday, July 18, 2022. 1:12 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns that cases of Monkeypox will continue to increase, WebMD reports.

The spike in cases in the U.S. will be due to increased testing and more reported infections as a result of exposure to the disease.

Medical experts say that more people are now seeking monkeypox tests.

There are now 12,556 cases of Monkeypox in 68 countries around the world.

In the U.S., there have been 1,469 cases of the disease and the majority of the cases are among men who have sex with men.

In addition, officials are now distributing more doses of the Jynneos vaccine, typically used to prevent smallpox and monkeypox.

The public is reminded to take necessary precautions to avoid catching Monkeypox.
