By Rubén Morales Iglesias: G-Flow’s Giovanni Lovell won the 75-mile Cayo Cycling Race put together by the G-Flow Cycling Team in partnership with the San Ignacio & Santa Elena Town Council on Sunday, according to San Ignacio & Santa Elena Town Deputy Mayor Zahir Figueroa.
The race started in front of CP Gas Station by the Carillo Puerto Boulevard in Santa Elena, headed to the Progresso Cement Factory at Mile 34 on the George Price Highway, and returned.
Lovell was followed by archrival Oscar Quiroz of the 501 Cycling Club in second, Patrick Williams rode in 3rd, Henry Li in 4th, and Derrick Chavarria in 5th.
Renan Codd was sixth, Devin Azueta seventh, Jyven Gonzalez eighth, Shawn Codd ninth, and Tevin Chaplin tenth.
Next came Richard Santiago in 11th, Brandon Cattouse finished 12th, Jose Choto 13th, Fernando Rosado 14th, Christopher Waight 15th, and Byron Pope 16th.
Figueroa thanked G-Flow sponsor Glen Flowers, the San Ignacio & Santa Elena Town Council Traffic Department, the National Department of Transport, and Car Guys for making the race possible.
Oscar Quiroz won the first station prize in Unitedville. Shawn Codd won the next one at the Top of Mile 44 Hill. Derrick Chavarria claimed the next three station prizes at the halfway point, the Roaring Creek Hill, and at Mount Hope.
