By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The San Ignacio and Santa Elena Town Council is advising motorists to exercise extreme caution when crossing the Low Lying Bridge due to the increased level of the Macal River. 

Mayor Earl Trapp is encouraging motorists to use the new Santa Elena bridge instead.

Flash flooding has been reported in several parts of San Ignacio and Santa Elena and shelters have been opened for those that need to evacuate from their homes.
