Weather forecasters monitoring three tropical waves in the Atlantic Ocean

Posted: Friday, October 21, 2022. 12:08 pm CST.

By Benjamin Flowers: While weather forecasters say that no tropical cyclones are expected to form in the next 48 hours, they are still monitoring three tropical waves in the Atlantic Ocean today.

The United States National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that Tropical wave 1 is in the central Atlantic Ocean moving west at 13 mph; Tropical wave 2 is also in the central Atlantic Ocean moving west at 9 mph; and Tropical wave 3 is in the Caribbean moving west at 11 mph.

Forecasters believe that the season may see less activity coming closer to its end, Yahoo News Reports. According to Dr. Ryan Truchelut, chief meteorologist at WeatherTiger, strong wind shear is scouring the Gulf and Caribbean where tropical development is most common in the latter half of October, which could help decrease tropical cyclone formation.

However, with just over five weeks left in the season, vigilance with respect to monitoring and preparedness is still highly encouraged.
