By Breaking Belize News Staff: A 38-year-old man from Los Lagos has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred over the weekend.

Charles West was arraigned in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court today, charged with one count of attempted murder, upon Keith Nicholson, one count of use of deadly means of harm upon Nicholson, and one count of wounding upon William Tiabo.

In court, the Magistrate explained to West that he would have his charges read to him but he would not be able to enter a plea due to the nature of the offenses.

Bail could not be granted in the first instance; however, West can apply to the Supreme Court for bail with the assistance of an attorney.

He is due back in court on January 9, 2023.

Allegations against him are that on Saturday, November 5, West got into an altercation with the two victims near a shop at mile 13 on the Philip Goldson Highway. West allegedly threw a pint bottle which hit Taibo in the side of the head, then stabbed Nicholson in the lower abdomen and left arm.

Nicholson is reportedly still hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
