Policeman knocked off motorcycle by fellow officer in mobile patrol pickup

By Benjamin Flowers: A police officer was knocked off a motorcycle this week by a fellow officer driving a mobile patrol pickup.

On Tuesday, PC #617 Jairo Vanegas was riding his motorcycle on the Hummingbird Highway when a police patrol unit tried to overtake him at a junction.

The pickup, which was being driven by an unidentified officer, ran off the side of the road after hitting Vanegas.

Vanegas suffered a dislocated clavicle to the left hand, abrasions to the left thumb, a missing thumbnail, and complained of pain to the left side of his abdomen.

He was taken to the Western Regional Hospital for treatment and a pair of medicolegal forms were issued to him.

Police are reviewing surveillance footage from a nearby camera that captured the incident.
