Elderly man, 74, killed in hit-and-run incident in Orange Walk; victim’s body dragged 500 feet

By Benjamin Flowers: A 74-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run traffic incident in Orange Walk yesterday.

Police say that Ronaldo Che was riding his bicycle along the San Estevan road sometime after 9:00 p.m. when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.

The vehicle reportedly dragged Che 500 feet from the point of impact before he was freed.

Che’s body was transported to the Northern Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are investigating.
