Man caught in 8 miles community with prohibited firearm

By Benjamin Flowers: Police busted a man this weekend with a prohibited firearm.

On Saturday, around 3:00 p.m. officers conducting patrols in the Western Paradise community at mile 8 on the George Price Highway, noticed a man standing behind an SUV parked on the shoulder of the highway. Police say the man pulled a firearm from his pants and began running towards a bushy area so they set chase and apprehended him.

The man, a 30-year-old resident of West Lake, was found with a .45 pistol with one live round of .45 ammunition, which by law is prohibited from ownership for civilians and security personnel alike.

He has been detained pending charges.
