Man fined for assaulting the mother of his child

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Belize City man was fined in court this week for attacking the mother of his child.

Twenty-one-year-old Tyrique Panting appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, charged with a single count of common assault.

He pleaded guilty to the offense and was fined $205 which he must pay by February 28 or he will spend two months in jail for default.

Panting told the court that he had taken his son for a ride on the day of the incident and when he returned, the victim began dodging him to leave him with the child. The victim says that Panting scratched her in the back of the head when he met her on the street, which prompted police to intervene and take them both to a police station.
