Ministry of Agriculture conducts beekeeping training in Lucky Strike, Belize District

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) conducted a beekeeping workshop in Lucky Strike in the Belize District on Thursday.

According to MAFSE, Miguel Huertas, National Beekeeping Coordinator, conducted the one-day training session for six beekeepers from Lucky Strike Village.

The training session looked at hive expansion, supplement feeding, pre-harvest, and general beekeeping issues.

Huertas inspected six apiaries for population growth and preparation for the 2023 harvest.

MAFSE said the workshop was a follow-up on the Caricom Development Fund project for beekeeping beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Agriculture has been pushing for the development of the beekeeping industry and has been conducting constant training for Belizean beekeepers.
