Belizean Krisean Lopez misses Platense’s international match due to injury

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belizean Krisean Lopez’s missed Platense’s friendly international match against Guatemala’s Achuapa on Sunday at the Antonio Toledo Valle Stadium in Zacatecoluca in El Salvador, due to a toe injury.

Platense drew 2-2 with Achuapa in a come from behind game for the Fraternity Cup but lost 5-4 in the penalty kicks shootout.

Lopez had played in all the previous three pre-season games and was expected to start after matching up well with Mexican Omar Rosas in those games but had to sit out the match due to the injury.

Lopez told Breaking Belize News (BBN) that in the second game against Águila he developed a blister on his right toe. The blister burst during the match against Nuevo FC on Thursday and his toe got swollen. He said the team doctor gave him medication and he had to sit out the match due to the pain.

“I asked the coach to sit out because it was bothering me a lot,” López said.

“The blister burst during the game on Thursday. I had many contacts with that same foot that day, so it left me with an inflammation as the whole toe got swollen. The Saturday I never did train. On Sunday, I didn’t play.”

However, Lopez said he will return to training on Tuesday.

Platense play their first match of the Salvadoran Premier League”s (1^st Division) Closing Championship on Saturday.

Lopez joined Platense on loan from Verdes and will play the 2022-2023 Closing Championship with the Salvadoran club.
