Volunteer BDF soldier charged for alleged assault with a bottle causing injury to a woman

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A volunteer soldier of the Belize Defense Force was charged with injuring a woman when he allegedly threw a pint bottle at her.

Belize City resident, 32-year-old Augustine Lauriano appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court answering to a single count of wounding.

He pleaded not guilty to the offense and was granted bail in the sum of $1,200 plus one surety of the same, which he was able to meet.

Allegations against him are that he and several other volunteer soldiers got into an altercation with a woman who was standing in her yard when Lauriano allegedly hurled the pint bottle at her which shattered on and some of the shards caused a cut to the complainant’s finger.
