By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Embassy in Taiwan and Ambassador Dr. Candice Pitts joined in congratulating Seidi Quetzal, an alumna of Ming Chuan University on her successful “Don’t tax my femininity campaign”.

The #Don’tTaxMyFeminity advocated for removal of taxes on female hygiene products.

With the support of the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceno, and the Minister for Human Development, Families, and Indigenous People’s Affairs, Dolores Balderamos Garcia, Quetzal was able to present her campaign to Prime Minister John Briceno and the Cabinet.

At the Sitting of the House of Representatives on March 10, 2023, Prime Minister Briceno announced that “Effective April 1st, 2023, all taxes will be removed from sanitary products for women.”

“A win for Belizean girls and women! Congratulations to Seidi. Congratulations to H.E. Briceno and Hon. Dolores. Thank you to the Prime Minister and his Administration,” the Belize Embassy in Taiwan and Ambassador Dr. Pitts said.
