Six dead in several accidents and 2 bodies found in 96 hours

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Six people perished in road traffic accidents over the last few days and police discovered 2 bodies in San Ignacio.

A family from Trinidad in Orange Walk is reeling from the loss of 4 members of their family that died on Saturday night in a road traffic accident.

Another man from Corozal also lost his life in a motorcycle accident.

A freak accident off the coast of Caye Caulker also claimed the life of fisherman, Jose Castro on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, in San Ignacio, police found the body of Santa Elena resident, Egbert Mckoy Jr. on the river banks of the Macal River. Mckoy reportedly drowned.

And yesterday, police in San Ignacio found the body of 58-year-old Luis Gabourel near the Low Lying wooden bridge in San Ignacio.

While many may not believe, the age-old adage remains that during the time of Lent, there would generally be no swimming and no travelling since it is believed that accidents are prone to happen during this time.
