World Book Day Conference held in Belize City

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, the World Book Day Conference “Nadia Lopez Garcia: Writing life from the memory” was held at the Leo Bradley Library in Belize City.

The conference was held in partnership with the Embassy of Mexico in Belize.

UNESCO World Book Day is held every year on April 23.

Nadia Lopez Garcia is a Mexican Poet and tu’un savi (indigenous language)-Spanish translator.

Lopez spoke on the hardships she faced as an indigenous child.

Her life story has given her the strength to be a fierce advocate for education.

She holds workshops for children to put their feelings on paper and share their stories.

Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children, Rossana Briceno commented on Lopez’s amazing and inspiring journey and encouraged all Belizeans to garner inspiration and share our stories as well.
