International News: 16-year-old U.S. student receives over $9m in University scholarship offers

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Dennis Barnes, a 16-year-old student from Louisiana has received University scholarship offers totaling over $9 million.

Barnes is completing his final year at the International High School of New Orleans.

According to the BBC, in August of 2022, Barnes applies to 200 colleges across the U.S.

To date, he has been accepted at 125 schools and Barnes has since said his goal is to reach $10 million in offers which would be a new record in the U.S.

Barnes has an almost perfect GPA and is already pursuing college credits at the Southern University at New Orleans.

Barnes plans to pursue a dual degree in computer science and criminal justice, and intends to announce in May which college he will attend.
