Driver potentially faces prosecution after man dies following fall from pick-up pan

By Aaron Humes: A notice of intended prosecution has been served to one Jerry Young following an accident on the George Price Highway over the weekend in Unitedville, Cayo District.

According to Police, Young was driving a pick-up truck carrying five individuals in the pan, including a six-year-old girl, when he lost control after the brakes failed.

One Michael Rowland was mortally injured and was ferried to the Western Regional Hospital, Belmopan, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero reminded that it is illegal to carry persons in the pan of a pick-up truck and you can be ticketed for the offense.

Police investigations into the incident continue.
