By Breaking Belize News Staff: Prime Minister John Briceño of Belize has embarked on a diplomatic mission to Nassau, Bahamas today. The Prime Minister is set to participate in a crucial Meeting of the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the President of the Dominican Republic with the Vice President of the United States.
Eamon Courtenay, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Immigration, as well as H.E. Lawrence Sylvester, Belize’s Ambassador to CARICOM, are accompanying Prime Minister Briceño. The high-level meeting is seen as an opportunity for Belize to engage with key regional players and reinforce its international ties.
During his absence, Cordel Hyde, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining, will assume the role of Prime Minister. The Prime Minister’s office has confirmed that Briceño is expected to return to Belize on June 9.
The agenda for the meeting and potential outcomes are yet to be disclosed, but the participation of these significant leaders underscores the importance of this event to the region.
