Belize hoping for a better performance today against El Salvador in U16 Girls Central America Football Union (UNCAF) Championship in Guatemala

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize Girls National Football Team (BGNT) is hoping for a better performance today against El Salvador in the U16 Girls Central America Football Union (UNCAF) Championship in Guatemala.

The BGNT play against the Salvadoran National Team in Group A action at 11:00 am at the Pinula Contreras Stadium in Guatemala City.

The team had a bad start falling to Costa Rica 16 -0 at the Pinula Contreras on Sunday, June 11. For their part, the Salvadorans started out with an 8-1 pumping of Honduras. That means that they might be as strong as the Costa Rican squad.

Hopefully our girls have recovered from the first-day jitters and play better today.

On Day 1 in Group A, Guatemala defeated Cuba 6-2 and Panama routed Nicaragua 6-1.

After the Belize-El Salvador game, Honduras play against Costa Rica at 3:00 pm.

In Group A, Cuba open against Panama at 11:00 while Guatemala close against Nicaragua at 3:00 pm at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (High Performance Center) in Guatemala City.

Belize’s third game will be on Thursday at 11:00 am against Honduras. On Saturday, the BGNT will play their final ranking game. They’ll play the Group B team that finishes in the same group rank to determine the final ranking.
