Belmopan’s Napoles demolish Corozal’s Sarteneja’ 6-1 in National Amateur Interdistrict Championship opening day

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belmopan’s Napoles were the big opening day winners in the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship rolling over Corozal’s Sarteneja’ 6-1 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday.

According to the official report by the Football Federation of Belize, Nigel Carbajal had an impressive performance scoring a haul, shaking the net in the 45’+1, 66’, 79’, and 90’. Darren Myers (14’) and Daijon Daniels (53’) completed the half dozen. Syan Verde netted Sarteneja’s consolation goal in the 48’.

In the opening game of the tournament at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio, Belize City’ Caesar Ridge defeated Flames 2-0 on goals by Jalen Babb in the 65’ off a penalty kick and by Kendale Nunez in injury time in the 90’+4.

San Pedro’s Terror Squad defended the home turf at Ambergris Stadium beating Toledo’s Mavericks United 2-zip. Roberto Nah scored in the 66’ off a penalty kick and Juan Chi converted the insurance goal in the 78’.

And the Griga Conquerors dropped the Midsouth’s 501 Spartans 3-1 at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga. Leopold Vasquez kicked in the opener in the 55’. Curtis Valerio made it 2-0 in the 70’ and Clay Flores closed the score at 3-0 in the 78’. Shemar Robert Scott scored the Spartans lone tally in the 85’.

The teams that played at home will now hit the road this coming weekend.
