Ladyville resident complains he was beaten in detention cell while held on bench warrant

By Aaron Humes: A father and son from Ladyville were left aggrieved after the latter was summoned to court by bench warrant but ended up being beaten while in the cell block by another detainee.

23-year-old Allen Anderson Jr was twice wanted for a court date but according to his father Allen Sr., the court was informed by email as to the reason for his absence.

On Thursday, the younger Anderson attended the court offices and was placed in the block, and thereafter was apparently attacked. He never in fact made it to see the Magistrate he was supposed to appear before.

The clerk of court confirmed the warrant but indicated the case file was with the Magistrate and so the office could not comment further, including on what the case was about.

The angered Andersons say they will pursue redress.
