By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) is advising motorists driving on the Philip Goldson Highway to look out for heavy long bridge beams it will be transporting from Ladyville to the Pueblo Nuevo Bridge next week starting on Monday.
The MIDH said starting on Monday, 10th to Saturday, 16th July 2023, its construction contractor for the Corozal to Sarteneja Road Upgrading Project ─ M&M Engineering Consultants Ltd. ─ will be transporting SEVEN (7) extremely heavy, 115-feet-long bridge beams along the Philip Goldson Highway from Ladyville to the Pueblo Nuevo Bridge construction site.
MIDH also advised drivers to be vigilant and exercise extreme caution when approaching the heavy equipment transporting these reinforced concrete beams.
“Drivers are asked to follow traffic warnings and the instructions of escorts at all times as these beams may take up the entire width of the highway,” the MIDH said in a press release issued on Saturday.
The MIDH said it thanks everyone “for their cooperation in abiding by these safety precautions and by exercising due care and attention when encountering these extraordinary loads on the highway.”
