Belize City man shot by Police during pursuit

By Aaron Humes: Police sources have confirmed another officer-involved shooting during a pursuit, reported Tuesday night in Belize City.

Around 7:45 p.m., Police in a mobile were chasing one Victor Lopez, 23, who was driving a motorcycle, along with passenger Kenyon Plunkett, a 20-year-old Belizean fisherman.

During the chase, one of the officers observed the passenger pulling an object from his waist. As a result, the officer fired a single gunshot with his issued 12-gauge shotgun at the individuals on the cycle, which caused injuries to Plunkett.

Kenyon Plunkett was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for medical treatment, where he is in stable condition with a hand injury.

The police are investigating and his family have already publicly complained that they have yet to receive any information as to what happened with Plunkett, who they say was not known as a troublemaker and earns a living catching and selling fish to restaurants.
