Tourism women-owned entrepreneurs benefit from TaiwanICDF-funded resilience program

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On July 15, 2023, Taiwan’s Ambassador to Belize, Lily Li-Wen Hsu participated in the closing ceremony of “Tourism women – owned MSMEs Covid-19 Resilience Program.”

The “Tourism women-owner Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) COVID-19 resilience program” was funded by Taiwan ICDF under the Belize-Taiwan Women Empowerment Project and co-implemented by the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize and the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations.

The purpose of the initiative was to assist 30 small and medium tourism-related businesses owned by women to face challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the 6-month program, the participants received support including consulting services to evaluate their business performances and challenges.

They also received assistance to receive the Belize Tourism Board Gold Standard Recognition and improved their digital exposure.

The participating MSMEs will also receive material support such as tablets and commercial receipt printers so as to enhance their business capacity and efficiency.

Attendees also included Nicole Solano, CEO of Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, Abil Castaneda, Chief Tourism Officer, Deshawn Ellis, Foreign Service officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration and Robert Pan, Chief of the Taiwan Technical Mission in Belize.

The Taiwan Embassy in Belize congratulated all participants and expressed appreciation to the Government of Belize for supporting the Belize-Taiwan Women Empowerment Program.
