By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Brooklyn Lyttle won the bronze medal in triple jump at NACAC U18 Championship at La Sabana Stadium in San Jose, Costa Rica on Friday.
The NACAC Championships include the North American, Central American, and Caribbean regions.
“We’re thrilled to announce that Brooklyn Lyttle has clinched the bronze medal in the Women’s U-18 Triple Jump at the NACAC U-18 Championship,” the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association said in a social media post late Friday.
“Join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement and sending our warmest congratulations to Brooklyn!”
Lyttle covered 11.65m with her jump behind gold medal winner Canadian Asia Philips (13.55m) and silver medallist Jamaican Jaeda Robinson (12.14m).
Lyttle was Belize star at the Central American (CADICA) U18-U20 Athletics Championships in Guatemala City in June capturing four gold medals and setting a new Central American record in long jump.
Belize is represented by Lyttle, Lydia Troupe, Mia Sylvester, Glenford Williams, and Keemar Wagner.
Lyttle finished fifth in her semifinal heat in the 100m and 13th overall. She is competing in the long jump on Saturday.
Troupe finished fourth in the U23 400m hurdles. She was to compete in the semifinals of the 400m but did not start.
Sylvester placed fourth in the U23 shot put (14.46m) and ninth in discus (37.45m).
Williams finished sixth in his semifinal heat in U23 100m and 18th overall. He is competing in the 110m hurdles semifinals on Saturday.
Wagner will compete in the U18 400m and 800m.
