Police officer remanded to jail on five counts of sex with a minor

By Breaking Belize News Staff: A police officer has been remanded to the Belize Central Prison after being read five counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

Dexter Diego, 26, a Police Constable of an Allan Pitts Crescent address appeared before the Chief Magistrate today unrepresented where he was read the five charges.

Due to the nature of the offenses, no plea was taken and under Section 16 of the Crimes Control and Criminal Justice Act, Chapter 102 of the laws of Belize, bail was denied and Diego was remanded to jail until October 12.

Diego is accused of having sex with the minor on five separate occasions between January and March of this year.

He allegedly had sex with the minor two times in the month of January when she was 13 and three times in the months of February and March after the minor had turned 14.
