Commissioner concedes All-Star Saturday defeat in William Dawson basketball tournament

By Aaron Humes: Last week Saturday, the William Dawson Sprite-Digi Basketball Tournament reached its mid-way point with an ‘All-Star Saturday’ showcase at the Yabra Green.

Along with the slam dunk and three-point shooting contests there was an All-Star game pitting “Team Kareem” against “Team Chester” and Team Kareem won in a “total blowout.”

On Monday, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams jokingly tried to blame tournament organizer Douglas Hyde for giving him “second-grade players.” But, he added, what was most important was that a day of fun was had by all amid efforts to reduce violence in the City. He also said he is looking forward to the rematch next year.

The tournament proper resumes this Saturday.
