Toyota Hilux thief gets a year in jail for truck worth $73,000

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Kevin Buller, 29, has been sentenced to one year in jail following a conviction for stealing a $73,000 Toyota Hilux pickup truck earlier this year.

Buller was first arraigned on Monday for the theft which occurred in May of this year. Initially, no plea was taken from Buller but on Thursday, he was tried summarily. He then pleaded guilty to the charge of theft during his trial.

The Senior Magistrate imposed a custodial sentence of 1 year imprisonment for the crime.

The vehicle’s owner had reported to police that she parked the truck in front of her home on Red Bell Street and it was stolen during the night.
