Alleged burglar who stole $19 and a pack of cigarettes can’t meet $5,000 bail, remanded to prison

By Breaking Belize News Staff: An alleged burglar who only got away with $19 in cash and a pack of smokes is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after he could not meet the $5,000 bail which was granted to him.

Meshek Banner, 33, of Crooked Tree appeared in court today to answer to a single charge of burglary.

According to reports, Banner broke into a home in Crooked Tree on September 3 and stole a wallet containing $19 cash and also took a pack of Miami brand cigarettes.

Banner pleaded not guilty to the charge and was offered bail in the sum of $5,000 plus one surety of the same amount, however, he was unable to post bail and was remanded to prison. He is due back in court on October 30.
