Two for $1: Tacos prices going up!

By Breaking Belize News Staff: One of the long-standing most affordable breakfast foods in Belize, tacos, like almost everything else has recently started seeing price hikes as vendors say a price raise is necessary for their businesses to remain sustainable.

It started last week, with one of the most popular vendors in Belize City, Dave’s, giving notice that chicken tacos will now sell at two for $1 starting on October 1, whereas the common practice for many years has been three for $1.

This week, other vendors have reportedly started to follow suit, with reports of the price hike now reaching other parts of Belize City. The hike has become necessary, vendors say, as the cost of ingredients including chicken and corn for the tortillas continues to rise along with cost of other goods and services.

It remains to be seen if all vendors across the country will adopt the new price structure for chicken tacos.
