By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Nigerian and Congo national were busted in Belize over the weekend trying to make their way to the United States with phony Guatemalan passports.

Olisah Austine Ebere, 45, from Nigeria and Mboungou De Bassengue Doline Flore from the Republic of Congo, were busted on Saturday, October 14 at the Philip Goldson International Airport with fake fraudulent travel documents.

They both appeared unrepresented in court today and pleaded guilty to entering the country illegally. They were fined $1,000 plus $5 cost of court each and a removal order has been issued by the Immigration Department. They have been remanded to prison in the meantime.

They both pleaded for mercy from the court explaining that due to turmoil in their respective countries, they fear death if they are deported back home. The prosecution explained that they do not qualify for amnesty in Belize due to their illegal entry.
