15 pig farmers attend pig rearing workshop in Cayo

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Fifteen pig farmers participated in a pig rearing training workshop carried out at Elias Teul’s farm in Cotton Tree Village in the Cayo District, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE).

The pig rearing training, which was all practical, included activities such as the selection of breeding stock, castration, record keeping, identification of animals, and general animal husbandry.

The last segment of the pig rearing training was a culinary session which involved the farmers in preparing and cooking pork steaks and ‘carnitas’.

The training was conducted by MAFSE Extension Officer Frank Padron.
