By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize Canoe Association and the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, popularly known as the Belize Olympic Committee, on Thursday morning hailed Amado Cruz for finishing 3rd in the Men’s K1 1000m canoe sprint Semifinal 2 at 8:10 am at Laguna Grande San Pedro de la Paz at the Pan American Games in Chile.
“Congratulations Amado Cruz for placing 3rd in the men’s k1 1,000m,” the Belize Canoe Association said in a social media post.
“We are proud of you!!!!”
Cruz was timed at three minutes, 56.51 seconds (3:56.51). Canadian heat winner Camero Low clocked 3:47.13. Cuban Reyler Patterson finished in 3:56.50.
“Amado Cruz isn’t just making waves; he’s riding them to success!” the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association added on Thursday morning.
“Congrats on securing 3rd place in the Men’s K1 1000m semi-finals. Finals, here we come!”
The Semifinal 2 was Cruz’s second race of the day. In the qualifying heats at 6:00 am, he finished fifth in Heat 1 in 3:58:58.
Cruz should be competing in the Final B on Saturday.
