Caye Caulker woman, Leslie Verde, found dead under mysterious circumstances

By Aaron Humes: Caye Caulker resident Leslie Verde, 32, was found unresponsive on the floor of her home between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. this morning, but police have said they are not yet sure of the cause of her death.

Police were called around 12:35 in the afternoon to the village health center. Their investigations revealed that she had come home around 5 a.m., reportedly under alcoholic influence, and apparently decided to take a shower. She was not heard from again until her daughter arrived to look for her and discovered her body.

An initial examination by the authorities revealed bruising marks on Verde’s neck. However, no signs of forced entry into her home were evident, adding to the perplexing nature of her death.

The body awaits a post-mortem examination at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) morgue in Belize City and police investigations continue.
