Police Department to host inaugural Security Expo

By Aaron Humes: Even the most eagled-eye police officers cannot stop crime on their own, and the criminals grow ever bolder and more sophisticated by the hour, never mind the day.

Citizen security starts at home and the Belize Police Department is bringing together business and security experts for a first-ever Security Expo in Belize City on Saturday, November 25, at the Belize Civic Center.

Commissioner of Police Chester Williams explained more on Tuesday: “The Security Expo will be geared toward the Police Department along with other agencies showcasing different things that can enhance citizen security. You know that citizen security does not only incorporate the police, but it also involves the private sector…we are inviting several business places to come out to the Civic Center on Saturday to be part of the expo and we will also be having different units of the Police Department showcasing what they are doing.”

Examples of the latter include the Cyber-Crime Unit, addressing what is cyber-bullying and reporting of crimes involving social media and the internet.
