International News: Viral snow photos in Guatemala are from 2009!

Many Belizeans are also sharing the photos showing parts of the neighboring country covered in snow.

However, a report by Prensa Libre indicates that the photos of an alleged snowfall in El Tajumulco in San Marcos were taken in 2009.

Intense cold is affecting parts of Guatemala due to a cold front but the photos were from snowfall that occurred in 2009.

Weather experts noted that on December 19, 2023, parts of Guatemala experienced the lowest minimum temperatures in the last four years for the month of December.
