Aggravated burglary reported on Northside Belize City – family held up for jewelry and cell phone

By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating an aggravated burglary at a York Street, Belize City residence on Friday night.

Homeowner Derone Lucario and various family members including his girlfriend were at home in various rooms of the house when two men entered the front door, which was wide open facing York Street.

A short man, other particulars unknown, pointed a black revolver at the three minors seated in the living room, then a taller man with a black cap and red mask pointed a chrome-colored revolver at the girlfriend, gesturing at her to keep quiet.

The shorter man removed her gold chain and took her Redmi Note 11 cell phone. The minors fled, followed by the shorter man, but the taller man stayed behind and held up Lucario, who handed over his gold chain and gold bracelet. The burglar then fled onto York Street headed toward Victoria Street. The total value of items stolen is $7,900.

Police have identified a suspect for questioning and their investigations continue.
