By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Belize City Defenders and the Orange Walk Running Rebels are off to a good start to the 2024 Belize Elite Basketball League winning their opening games on Friday night, but the San Pedro Tiger Sharks have taken a nosedive losing their first two games.
The Belize City Defenders edged the San Pedro Tiger Sharks by a basket, 85-83 in an extremely even and exciting game at the Belize City Civic Center on Friday night.
On Friday as well, the Orange Walk Running Rebels dropped the EZ Investments Griga Dream Ballers 80-63 at the Orange Walk Multi Purpose Complex.
The BEBL continues with their fourth game of the season on Saturday night when the Western Ballaz play their opening game against the Belmopan Trojans, who have taken up the spot left vacant by the Belmopan Red Taigaz. The game tips off at 9:00 pm at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio.
The Belize Elite Basketball League started last week Friday, January 26, with the defending champions Benny’s Belize Hurricanes dumping the San Pedro Tiger Sharks 101-73 at Belize City Civic Center.
